Funeral Poems : Do Not Stand At My Grave and Weep
Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glint on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you wake in the morning hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.
Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
(Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there, I did not die!)

Wo! I love this poem more
Wo! I love this poem more than anything. This poem is a mystery. I like poems like this so much.
who's the author of this poem
who's the author of this poem?
Edit by Site Admin: Do Not Stand At My Grave And Weep was written in 1932 by Mary Elizabeth Frye. During most of her lifetime the author of the poem was unknown, and when she claimed to have written it shortly before her death a lot of people didn't believe her. However, research by a newspaper reporter later confirmed Mary Frye's story. Thanks for asking. I've added her name to the end of the poem.
Lovely - simple but powerful
I wish I knew the author so I could give credit when I paste it into the card of a dear friend for the loss of her Mother. (I changed "I" to "She".) Thank you for posting it!

I love it!
I LOVE IT! My uncle just passed away and I am in the process of organizing the program. This poem has hit home in so many ways. These are the words that I can hear him saying to us! Thank you so much!
