Heaven's Stairs. Funeral poems by Domenic Vincenzo Ferrari
”The day I died was just an ordinary day, sunny beautiful and calm, the only difference was I saw heaven’s stairs and the good Lord’s holy palm
I felt relieved and at peace, I saw this glorious stone-staircase over an ocean
With colorful flowers on the sides
I knew that I wouldn’t have to worry, I knew that God
would be there for me. I saw those who had went before me, smiling ever so bright in this happy home they call “heaven”
The Lord even came to meet me, so graceful, strong and tall
He called me home to paradise; he took me from it all
I started my way up to heaven; I climbed stair by stair
I knew it would be worth it, because at the top God waited there
I knew that those who grieved knew body wise I was gone
But in each and every one of them, my spirit lived on and on
He said your life is over, new life would be grasped
And that my memory would live on forever, even though I passed”
