My nan was an angel from heaven,
God sent us all down to share,
He gave us the chance to love her,
And feel the comfort of having her there.
He gave us a gift more valuable,
Than diamonds, silver or gold,
He gave us the loveliest angel of all,
To cherish and to hold.
God felt our pain in taking her,
We would forgive in time he knew,
And accept that our angel,
Had done all she came to do.
She had found the other half of her,
Loved four children endlessly,
Watched them grow and fall inlove,
And then a nan she was so proud to be.
Her family grew larger each year,
And each she loved so much,
And so when God came to take her home,
She wasn't in a rush.
She showed us all her strength and love,
By fighting hard to stay,
So God sent down, those she'd loved and lost,
To show her it was ok.
And as we cry at saying goodbye,
There are those beyond sight but near,
Our loved ones who are
already home,
Will be shouting, "look, she's here"
So let us all smile and wipe are tears,
And rejoice that we knew her at all,
For as a gift God lent us,
The loveliest angel of all.

We just lost our grandmother whom we dearly call "Nanai." Her lineage includes: 6 - children; 27 - grandchildren; 50+ - great, grandchildren; & 39 - great, great grandchildren. This poem reminded me so much of Nanai & coincidentally enough her favorite color was purple/violet! I will be sharing this poem with the rest of my family. Thank you so very much.
Kind regards,
Lori
