Heaven needs children too

When Heavens Realm had been created
All the angels gathered round
And beheld its awesome wonders
Nothing lacking they had found

God Almighty stood in silence
For in his heart he knew
What kind of place would heaven be
Without some children too

Only for a moment
He considered what must be done
Then his Cherubim were summoned...
The joy of heaven had begun

Grandparents for generations
Countless mothers throughout the years
All adoring laughing children
As the angels brought them here

Every heart is filled with kindness
For this innocence so pure
Christ the Lord abiding with them
Their salvation is secure

From the first child recieved by angels
Heavens population grew
For what can of place would Heaven be
Without some children too

Solemn Duty

SOLEMN DUTY

The coach glistened, as its highly polished panels reflected the sun,
The windows immaculate, no dirt or water stains that run.

Buffed up, at every available chance,
Pristine care and condition, could be seen at a glance.

The shafts were readied for use, and raised,
Two highly groomed mares reversed, into place.

Their jet black coats shone proud and bright,
They complemented the coach, in the shimmering light.

Harnesses attached, and the plumes standing high,
On top of their heads, pointing to the sky.

They’d a job to do, so must look their best,
While they carried the coffin, to lay to rest.

Todays task was sensitive, and it was quite clear,
They knew that the cortege would shed a tear.

With a coffin of white, and finished in brass,
The pallbearer had an unenviable task.

With outstretched arms, he supported the casket,
Contrasting against his black, buttoned jacket.

The death of a baby is a solemn affair,
Mourners, and passers by, stop and stare.

The life had been short, to say the least,
So we hope that the child can now Rest In Peace .

A Child of Mine

A Child of Mine, a Funeral Poem for a child.

I'll lend you for a little while
A child of mine, God said
For you to love the while she lives
And mourn for when she's dead
It may be six or seven years,
Or forty-two or three
But will you, till I call her back
Take care of her for me?

She'll bring her charms to gladden you
And - should her stay be brief,
You'll have her lovely memories
As a solace for your grief
I cannot promise she will stay
For all from earth returns
But there are lessons taught below
I want this child to learn.

I've looked the whole world over
In my search for teachers true
And from all beings that crowd life's land
I have chosen you
Now, will you give her all your love
Nor think the labor vain.
Nor hate me when I come to take
This lent child back again

I fancied that I heard you say
"Dear Lord, Thy will be done.
For all the joys Thy child will bring
The risk of grief we'll run
We will shelter her with tenderness
We'll love her while we may -
And for the happiness we have now know
Forever grateful stay."

But should the angels come for her
Much sooner than we'd planned,
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes
And try to understand.

Those who live long endure sadness and tears
But you'll never suffer the sorrowing years
No betrayal, no anger, no hatred, no fears
Just love , only love , in your lifetime
