‘To a Friend..’

When bore my soul its’ darkest moments,
and desperate begged this journey’s end;
There stood at arm a burning beacon,
a caring face; A treasured friend.
All put aside his trials and terrors,
no heed to how his own cares weigh;
To take upon his back my burden,
and crushing not one sigh betray.

As grief bears down and steals my senses,
‘til every vein runs pale with tears;
There comes a hand upon my shoulder,
and my friend’s gentle face appears.
To bear with me my every sorrow,
no matter how his own heart aches;
Upon his own soul every anguish,
so freely from my yoke he takes.

While ruin called my pockets empty,
ill fortune laid my table bare;
Though harboured he an empty belly,
his last few crumbs were furnished there.
Each borrowed coin so willing given,
no mind to if it be repaid;
Enough to know a friend is needy,
scant care he too be debtor made.

If will falls weak beneath my labours,
each tortured sinew nigh its end;
Close at my side ‘thout charge or bidding,
hard laboured there my constant friend.
That his own sinew, nerve and muscle,
fresh from his own toils lay near spent;
No instant’s thought be asked nor given,
as free to mine his back was bent.

Without reproach so swift forgiven,
that angry word unthinking spoke;
Each selfish act so quick forgotten,
or thoughtless promise easy broke.
Those liberties so freely taken,
and all advantage wanton took;
No wedge betwixt our friendship driven,
as each and all were overlook.

Should peril cast its cloak about me,
in death’s black shadow dare me go;
Against my back, as faithful sentry,
stood fast will be ‘gainst any foe.
No hesitation, doubt or waver,
although his own soul be depend;
Whate’er the task, the cost, the danger,
My sword, my shield, my rock… My friend.

Its a sad day for us all today
As we find ourselfs standing here
We have our own memoirs
Of laughter and good cheer

So go with God you are in safe hands
Your time had come just as planed
Plan ahead you always said
This is something you wanted us to do

So we say goodbye to ( name) today
But before you go we want you to know
You'II still make us laugh
When we talk of the past
That's something you could always do

Good night God bless,
We will miss you, you know
You were always a great friend
We are sorry to see you go

The moon was half the night you left,
Took to the sky with your last breathe,
The wind it whistled through your hair,
Your precious soul it filled the air.

You howled goodbye to those you love,
Ran through the clouds up way above,
The night was dark but you felt content,
‘Cause this is where the good ones went.

The ones you left, they mourn and cry,
They were not ready to say goodbye,
Your presence would fill the room with flare,
But now the room is cold and bare.

When laid to rest the moon was crescent,
And all the ones you loved were present,
Memories shared and stories told,
About your life from young to old.

One day our hearts will start to mend,
From losing a wife, a daughter, a friend,
And every time the moon is full,
We’ll raise our heads and we’ll see you.

Friend, please don't mourn for me
I'm still here, though you don't see.
I'm right by your side each night and day
And within your heart I long to stay.

My body is gone but I'm always near.
I'm everything you feel, see or hear.
My spirit is free, but I'll never depart
As long as you keep me alive in your heart.

I'll never wander out of your sight-
I'm the brightest star on a summer night.
I'll never be beyond your reach-
I'm the warm moist sand when you're at the beach.

I'm the colourful leaves when Autumn's around
And the pure white snow that blankets the ground.
I'm the beautiful flowers of which you're so fond,
The clear cool water in a quiet pond.

I'm the first bright blossom you'll see in the spring,
The first warm raindrop that April will bring.
I'm the first ray of light when the sun starts to shine,
And you'll see that the face in the moon is mine.

When you start thinking there's no one to love you,
You can talk to me through the Lord above you.
I'll whisper my answer through the leaves on the trees,
And you'll feel my presence in the soft summer breeze.

I'm the hot salty tears that flow when you weep
And the beautiful dreams that come while you sleep.
I'm the smile you see on a baby's face.
Just look for me, friend, I'm every place!
