Until The End

You are my love, you are my life
You’re my best friend as well as wife,
I love and trust you with all that I am
You are the woman who's completed this man.
You gave your love yet stole my heart
You had me hooked right from the start,
Just one fleeting glance into your hazel eyes
Made me leave my old life, sever my ties.
Falling head over heels in love I can say
is an excellent thing to happen each day,
each smile that you give me and smile that you wear
Reveals that you love me and proves that you care.
Your immaculate body makes me proud to say
the woman you're looking at is my wife, Faye,
I can only keep trying so one day I may be
the man you already believe me to be.
I don't mind in the future if we find ourselves old
in some rundown apartment, penniless and cold,
As long as when my time comes, I can still hear
the hazel eyed woman whisper in my ear.
"I love you my darling and my heart is in two"
"But this means that half will go with you"
"Now close your eyes sweetheart, for now is the end"
"Goodbye darling husband, Goodnight dear friend"

Desolation

The stars no longer shine.
The clouds are grey and the fog has come down.
The wet mist of my tears are dark and foreboding,
And the future is unknown.

The birds sing no more.
The dawn no longer breaks, and the sunset is dim and dark.
The pain of my emotions knows no end,
And my soul continues to wail and groan.

The flowers no longer give off scent.
The perfume of joy no longer flows through my life.
I no longer look forward with anticipation,
Only look back with despair.

Unquenched longing is all I expect.
Blackness and fear are my emotions now.
My soul cries out for you, but all is desolate.
You are not there.

There's an emptiness in my soul
Like the hunger pain of someone starving;
But I'm not hungry for food,
I'm hungry for you.

There's a blindness in my eyes
Like the darkness of someone who can't see;
But I'm not in the darkness of light,
I'm in the darkness of your absence.

There's a silence in my voice
Like the silence of someone who can't speak;
But I'm not silent through being mute,
I'm silent because I can't speak to you.

There's a deafness in my ears
Like the deafness of someone who can't hear;
But I'm not deaf through not hearing,
I'm deaf because I can't hear you.

There's a numbness in my touch
Like the numbness of someone who has lost all feeling;
But I'm not numb through loosing my feelings,
I'm numb through no longer being able to feel you.

And yet …

Your memory still feeds me.
I still see you in my mind's eye.
I still speak to you,
And I still see you in my dreams.
My heart is still warmed,
From the nearness of your love.

Death cannot take away
The memories we have shared;
And time will not destroy them either.

As long as I live,
My memories of you will bind us together.
Death can only separate us physically.
But emotionally, and lovingly, and spiritually,
We will continue living and growing old together.

I Only Said I Love You

I only said "I love you",
If only I'd said more.
But in that phrase "I love you",
Is everything for sure.

It means I'll miss you dearly,
your voice and gentle touch.
It means I'll miss you daily,
so very, very much.

If I'd have had more warning,
I'd have told you such a lot,
But you went without the telling.
much more than just a jot.

If I had been more forthright,
And if I had made a start.
I'd have poured out words forever,
And told you all my heart.

But I only said "I love you",
If only I'd said more.

I'm Still Here

Friend, please don't mourn for me
I'm still here, though you don't see.
I'm right by your side each night and day
And within your heart I long to stay.

My body is gone but I'm always near.
I'm everything you feel, see or hear.
My spirit is free, but I'll never depart
As long as you keep me alive in your heart.

I'll never wander out of your sight-
I'm the brightest star on a summer night.
I'll never be beyond your reach-
I'm the warm moist sand when you're at the beach.

I'm the colourful leaves when Autumn's around
And the pure white snow that blankets the ground.
I'm the beautiful flowers of which you're so fond,
The clear cool water in a quiet pond.

I'm the first bright blossom you'll see in the spring,
The first warm raindrop that April will bring.
I'm the first ray of light when the sun starts to shine,
And you'll see that the face in the moon is mine.

When you start thinking there's no one to love you,
You can talk to me through the Lord above you.
I'll whisper my answer through the leaves on the trees,
And you'll feel my presence in the soft summer breeze.

I'm the hot salty tears that flow when you weep
And the beautiful dreams that come while you sleep.
I'm the smile you see on a baby's face.
Just look for me, friend, I'm every place!

(I wrote this on behalf of my mum to my dad)

My life ended the day you died,
I just wanted you to know.
Unheard grief echoes in my soul,
How can I move on, when I cannot let go.

A new life began for me,
Without your laughter and your smile.
Precious memories, I build my new life with,
Precious memories, that's how I survive.

The time will come when we will be together,
You are not forgotten, you are in my heart.
But until then my grief lives on,
Until we are together again, never to part.

Funeral Poem : The Thousandth Man

One man in a thousand, Solomon says will
stick more close than a brother.
And it's worth seeking him all your days,
if you find him before the other.
Nine hundred and ninety nine depend
on what the world sees in you.
But the thousandth man will stand your friend
with the whole world against you.

'Tis not promise nor prayer nor show
will settle the finding for thee.
Nine hundred and ninety nine of them go
by your looks, or your acts or your glory.
But if he finds you and you find him,
the rest of the world doesn't matter.
For the thousandth man will sink or swim
with you in any water.

It's you can use his purse with no more talk,
than he use his yours for his spendings,
and laugh and meet in your daily walk
as though there had been no lendings.
Nine hundred and ninety nine of them call
for silver and gold in their dealings,
but the thousandth man he's worth them all
because you can show him your feelings.

His wrong's your wrong, and his rights your right,
with that for your only reason!
Nine hundred and ninety nine can't bide
the shame or mocking or laughter.
But the thousandth man will stand by your side
to the gallows foot and after.
